Don't Let These 3 Fire Suppression System Myths Fool You

Posted on: 16 February 2016

Fires can break out at any point in time. Whether it be because an electrical outlet shorted out or a fire broke out on the stove because a pot was unattended, fires can be truly devastating. They can end up destroying everything you worked hard for over the years. Because of this, fire suppression systems are something you want to look into. They can work for both homes and businesses. Unfortunately, many people don't truly understand the benefits of these systems. They let a myth they heard hold them back from implementing this life-saving device into their property.

Once a fire starts in the property, all of the sprinklers are going to go off.

Many people assume that all of the sprinklers are going to activate at the first sign of a fire. However, that isn't the case. Sprinkler heads are activated based on what the temperature is in the air around them. Oftentimes, all it takes is one or two sprinkler heads to control a fire in the home. If the fire spreads to other areas of the property, more of the heads will activate. However, there is no need for the heads to activate when there is no fire going on in their region.

Water damage is far worse than what fire damage is.

Many think that they could repair fire damage easier than what they could water damage. But, that isn't the case. Fires that are allowed to make their way through the property could end up destroying your property in mere minutes. You also have to think about all of the gallons of water that will be pushed through your property when the fire department arrives to put the fire out. With a fire suppression system in place, the amount of water that comes out is far less and it targets the problem quicker to minimize damage.

Smoke detectors are all you need.

While a smoke detector will alert you to a fire in the home, it isn't going to do anything about putting the fire out for you. That part is up to you to handle on your own. You could end up struggling to get all of your family outside of the home safely and securely, especially when dealing with children or elderly individuals. If the smoke detector fails, there is no telling what is going to happen.

Now that you can see the benefits of these suppression systems, it makes sense to have one installed around your property today.

harnessing the power of the sun to cut utility costs

Are you looking for ways to reduce the monthly costs of owning your home? Have you considered utilizing solar power? Home solar power systems are becoming more popular as the cost of the systems drop. Having recently installed a whole house solar power system a year ago, I have learned quite a bit. I have put a website together to help other homeowners learn about solar power systems so that they can also harness the power of the sun and enjoy the monthly utility savings like I have. Hopefully, you find all of the tips, advice and information on my site as useful as I did when I learned these things.
